At the beginning of the First Sathar war, the nations of the world were still reeling from their loses in the First Galactic war, and could not adequately come together to defend the various planets that were being attacked by the Sathar Invaders. A ragtag fleet of private, corporate, and militia ships formed into a militia that would later become known as the Knight Hawks, to deal with the threat of the Sathar Invasion. When Admiral Morgaine, one the First Galactic War’s heroes, defied orders and took his fleet to engage the Sathar, he became the Knight Hawks’ leader. It was the first show of unity since the First Galactic War, as volunteers from across the galaxy began volunteering to join the fleet. However, by the war’s end, the Knight Hawks were broken up into various factions and alliances by the UPF, and the strength of their unity was gone. Few now question the idea that the First Sathar War’s hard fought victories would have never been achieved without the Knight Hawks.
At the end of the Second Galactic War, the Galactic Concord, in an attempt to show the power and ability of intergalactic unity, assembled a new Knight Hawks fleet. This fleet was made up of ace pilots from varied nationalities, and they helped remove the last hold outs from the previous war. As contact was reestablished with the Verge, the Knight Hawks were tasked with defending the Verge against outside treats, and to prevent the various planets and factions from waging war upon each other.
